Every shot is saved and available as a row in the results table along with the shot sequence number and time that the shot was recorded.

Results Page example

Columns are organized into two main sections, Raw Readings and Performance Analysis.

The row above the column headings show the averages over all shots in the table excluding second balls.

Raw Readings

The columns under this section show the judgment of the shot result and ball measurements as read by the software. These are the uninterpreted data points for each throw.

Result

The pins are read by the software to determine the result of every ball that is thrown. Available readings are:

  • Strike
  • First Ball
  • Second Ball
  • Gutter

The results are used to automatically filter out second balls from the Performance Analysis consistency scores.

Ball Speed

The measured average ball speed in MPH (miles per hour) over the middle third of the lane.

The ball speed must be calibrated using the "Tune Ball MPH" dialog box under the Options menu. Speed readings that are not calibrated will allow checking consistency between throws but will not be physically correct.

Launch Angle

The launch angle of the ball in degrees as it enters the lane after ball release.

The angle is reported as positive when the ball moves towards higher board numbers and negative when the ball moves towards lower board numbers.

Arrows Board

The board number that the ball was over as it crossed the blue arrows measurement line.

Board numbers are reported in 0.5 board increments.

Break Board

The board number that the ball was over as it crossed the black break point measurement line.

Board numbers are reported in 0.5 board increments.

Performance Analysis

The columns under this section are consistency scores based on the raw readings, excluding second balls.

Some columns that have "+/-" in the column heading have different meanings based on certain options.

If a ball control drill is not active, the numbers are self-consistency scores based on recent shots. Specifically the number is the average deviation from the mean over the five most recent shots that are not second balls. Regardless of what the raw readings are this number provides a sense of how repeatable the recent shots are. Identical shots produce scores of +/- 0.

If a ball control drill is active, then the numbers are the difference between the raw reading and the target set in the ball control drill configuration for that shot only. Shots that are on target produce +/- 0 in the column.

Speed +/-

The ball speed consistency score or ball control drill difference from the target.

Launch +/-

The launch angle consistency score. The meaning does not change during ball control drills.

Arrows +/-

The arrows board number consistency score or ball control drill difference from the target.

Break +/-

The break point board number consistency score or ball control drill difference from the target.

Path %

A measure of the total ball path shape compared to the five most recent shots that are not second balls. A path percentage of 100% would be achieved if the path of the balls on the lane are perfectly identical. As the ball paths vary more and more the path percentages fall significantly.

This measure is unique to Strike Seeker.
